..Winter Sport Carnival 2010..

On last June 21, 2010, COhort 1 Macquarie was organized a sport activity just intended to stretch those 'lazy' bones..It was our first WINTER SPORT CARNIVAL 2010. In collaboration with Sport and Recreational Bureau, this winter sport carnival is aimed to strengthen the relationship between 58 of us and also build on stamina after working so hard for the final exams..nothing last with pressure, the details of this hoo-rah games are as follow:

date: JUNE 21st, 2010 (MONDAY)
time: 9.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.

Farid (sport & recreational bureau) is explaining the rules of the games.

the committee has divided the group into 4 (BLACK, RED, BLUE and GREEN). This "DRAW-LOTs" process is genuinely fair and square for all of us.. The teams are as follow:

BLACK : Razeen, Hilmi, Chris, Fikri, Nisya, Juraidah, Azza, Nurul Amirah, Maisyarah, Myra, Nadiah, Sarah, Nana, Khalijah and Atiqah Sham.

the games was divided into two parts: Netball and Futsal. Since this cohort only have 13 handsome guys, we had to join the futsal team with some girls. It was totally awesome when looking at the girls put their effort to score at least one goal for the team. :D

Both games was totally enjoyable since all of us was having fun on that day. Well, we are going to be teachers though..so we are expected to produce future generation with good stamina instead of looking at the language all the time..:D

this event finished around 1.pm. Since it was huge success, the council had prepared small feast for all the players. And the result was announced right after everyone has finished the lunch.

and the winner goes to...

...Happy Teacher's Day 2010!...

Happy Teachers' Day to all teachers, wherever you may be on Teacher's Day!
Today, 16th of May is Teachers' Day back in Malaysia.

To all our beloved lecturers in Penang, we wish you Happy Teachers' Day and thanks for helping us to learn from yesterday and live for today. You have taught us all of these!!
Ohh.. don't you know how much that your children (58 of us) really really miss you?. Behold:

You are the one who inspires us for better human being,
purpose designed for life that we seem all too unclear.

You are like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others

When it comes to teaching,
no one can compete with you.

You are the one who shaped and
are responsible in making us capable citizens of this world.

Madam Lee, Mr Teoh, Mr. Retnakumar, Mr. Goh, Madam Ong, Mr. Jamal
(don't have pitcures of them)

They inspired us to help others learn. Looking back, they made a world of a difference for us and for so many people. Guess that's pretty much why we want to be a teacher.;)

Thus, lets us pay respect to these wonderful, loving and caring lecturers through our prayers and wishes.

A very Happy Teachers Day to all of you!!!!!

Most teachers have little control over school policy or curriculum or choice of texts or special placement of students, but most have a great deal of autonomy inside the classroom. To a degree shared by only a few other occupations, such as police work, public education rests precariously on the skill and virtue of the people at the bottom of the institutional pyramid. ~Tracy Kidder~

..SchOoL viSit 2010 - NewPort PubLic SchOoL..

miss Malaysian school..miss those tiny little kids..and now, here our first School Visit 2010!!!..not to forget, it was NEWPORT PUBLIC SCHOOL!..yeah!..

got on the bus early in the morning..with casual tshirts, smart slacks, shinning black boots, colourful baju kurung and matching scarf, we aimed for the best to see those kids later..
with about 2 hours of journey..we stopped at the beach (forgot the name)..took some pictures and continued our way to the school..
btw, we were freaking amused by the beach..and people staring at us, thinking *what the hell are they doing with those 'kurungs' and scarfs when the sun is rising..haha...but no matter what, we looked HOT in those outfit!..hehehe..

first, briefing with the Principal about the school.. Then, we were heading to the main hall for interview session..a great lovely thanks to Grade 5 students for being the subject of the day..after half and hour for the interview, (math assignment), we were taken on tour around the school compound..frankly, most of us did not expect those advancement in their teaching and learning system cause back in Malaysia, yeah, it was incomparable...those smart boards, beautiful classrooms, safety playground, systematic administration..(what else, you name it.^.^)..
it was awesome and we totally amused with the school in Australia..

apart from that, we also had the opportunity to get into the room ans see how the teachers teach the kids.. recalling back of our Classroom Management subject with Mr. Jamal n Madam Maria..it was totally made us thinking of what we gonna do when we get back to Malaysia..
moreover, we also managed to walk around and see students playing and have fun in the school..not to rigid, not to straight..it just FUN!!..

get on the bus around 12..able to say goodbye to those cute adorable little kids..and the most important thing was...WE HAD JOY and FUN for the day!!!... special thanks to:
  • Mrs Principal of Newport Public School
  • Mr.
  • Grade 5 students
  • Jenny Barr for the awesome school trip
  • nick , the bus driver
  • and lastly, cohort 1 macquarie for the cooperation
the future English teachers & the students

..bERRa bErrA viA cAnbErRa..

it's now the time to announce...our first excursion of 2010......(drum roll....)..B.ed TESOL Cohort 1 Canberra Excursion!!!!..
this is the first event as a cohort and lectures go out and have some fresh air (out of kinda-tired-pack-first-few weeks..)..hehe.
departed from MUV on Saturday, 2oth March around 7.00 a.m..phew..(boys are much earlier than girls~~)..very excited for the journey, first stop at R& R somewhere we do not know..haha.. beautiful scenery along the way to Canberra and damn tired..it's 3 HOURS yaw!!!!

arrived at Parliment House around 11.00 a.m, we were taken on tour across the whole building..from the ground floor till the top, from the authentic pattern of decoration till the significant of aborigines, from the concrete to abstract, and from the Parliament hall to gift shop..the most must-visit part was rooftop view!..all i can say that it's awesome!..we can see clearly the view of Canberra on top of the parliament house..pretty cool huh?..hehe..

we continued our excursion to National Museum which not very far from the Parliament house.
having our lunch by the riverside, we explored the museum just about 1 hours..it was splendid views that we can see lots of aboriginal stuff that remind us to Australia movie..(the one that Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman acted in..)..bought some souvenirs and postcards from the gift shop, and then we continued the excursion to the War Memorial..

not much time we spend at the War Memorial, just a brief photo stop before we continue our '3 hours' back to the university..

it was a memorable experience with Pamela, Dulcy and Sue..lots of things we have learnt about Australia and absolutely looking forward for the next excursion with them..till then, adieu~

If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job.
